Today we woke up at 7:00 am
we made our lunches and left around 9:00 am to meet with Alex G. and we headed
to the Klamath Tribes Research Station, Alex talked to us about how the changes
around the Klamath reservation are affecting the sucker fish that were a food
source to the people of the river, they are also on the endangered species list
and a big reason is there are dams that were built along the rivers and lakes
that were for draining for agricultural uses and it affects the lakes because
of manipulation that messes with the PH levels. The lake water is dirty in
general some of the sucker fish make it through the lake and the ones who don’t
make it through die and when they die they release high ammonia and it mixes
with the PH which is also high so it releases a toxic algae. We went to one of
the springs where the sucker fish are able to live because of how good the
water quality was and then we came back to camp and cooked beef stew and we
also had a visitor come his name was Jeff Mitchell and Jade and her husband and
her kid, Jeff he told us about the story of how the sucker fish came to be, they
ate dinner with us and they left.

to go get the trail camera, some loaded up the truck and camper and then we
left Deschutes around 8:00 am…yep it took 3 hours to leave. For about an hour
we traveled to Crater Lake we took a hike up to the watchtower except me and
Priscilla and the rest of the group went half way on the Rim trail instead of
the watchtower some of went back to the watchtower trail some of us were almost
there until we had to turn around and some of us made it to the top. We then
left for Collier State Park it was where we were camping next. Some of us set
up our tents up right away some of us waited until after we took a little hike
with Alex along the Williamson River with a brief explanation about the dams

We woke up around 6:00 AM packed up camp made lunch and ate
breakfast left around 8:30 AM headed to Fire Management were we met with Brad
Donahue and Bob Sjolund. Brad is afmo he is in charge of fuels he has projects
on and off the reservation was a second generation fire fighter. There is a 20
person hotshot crew out in Alaska right now. Bob is currently a fuels planner
so he decides which area needs fueling and for every project there has to be a
document for agreement to work on the area. Fire Management heard about the
incident in the park and they let us move camp into their fenced in area we
were allowed to shower so it was amazing.
